Health Insurance Changes for 2011

Consumers beware, the new Federal Law passed on March 23, 2010 has effects and changes that you need to be aware of:

On September 23, 2010 the first part of the new law takes effect and all major medical insurance policies issued after March 23, 2010 will have unlimited lifetime benefits.  If you have a policy issued prior to March 23, 2010 you have the limited amount of benefits stated in your policy.

The next law change is for the insurance companies themselves, effective January 1, 2011 all insurance companies must use 80% of the premium collected from customers to pay claims.  My opinion is that this will lead to more layoffs of insurance workers and cause rates to spiral for group plans as well as individual insurance plans.  This simply means that if you do not have an agency that helps you with claims that you may be caught in very long hold times trying to get through to customer service because of the new law.

When your policy comes up for renewal, please contact us and we will help you get unlimited lifetime benefits for your family.

There are many aspects of the new Federal Law that have specific effective dates, please log onto this website periodically to learn when and how the new law will effect you and your family.
